Making Algae Biodiesel Benefits
Why do we love algae?
Here are a few reaons:
1.) Algae produces polyunsaturates or unsaturated fats.
So what right?
Well, polyunsaturates have much lower melting points than monounsaturates or saturates.
This means that algae bioidiesel has much better cold weather properties than many other bio-feedstock. Since one of the disadvantages of biodiesel is it’s relatively poor performance in cold temperatures, it appears that algal biodiesel might score well on this point.
According to some estimates, the yield (per acre, say) of oil from algae is over 200 times the yield from the best-performing plant/vegetable oils. That’s something to hang your hat on algae!
3.) Algae can grow in practically any place where there is enough sunshine.
Sorry Ohio. Just kidding.
